We've been joined by Firas Makhlouf from WSDOT's Public Transportation Division, and he and Veronica are going over a few of the particulars of the budgets as they relate to TDM, Practical Solutions, and other related programs.

Brian/Veronica: While much of this discussion is still fairly preliminary, it is certainly important to note that CTR and TDM both have the full attention of not only the Governor's office, but the Governor himself.

Brian: In the context and for the purposes of this discussion, here the things in the Governor's budget request:

  • The Regional Mobility Grant program
  • Practical Solutions

Something that's not in the Governor's budget request:

  • The ORCA subsidy/incentive program for employers

MOTION: Karen: I move that the board support the new appropriation for new ORCA funding, that we support the Governor's budget request for $13M in purpose (although not necessarily from that funding source), and that we support the Regional Mobility funding-flexibility request, and that we revisit this through the legislative committee if the Governor's budget isn't moving forward.

Seconded.

Kristina: How are we going to determine whether the Governor's budget isn't moving forward?

Brian: I imagine that direction will come from our legislative committee. If board members have questions, please consult a member of that committee.

Kristina: I suggest that we give the legislative committee more authority to move quickly.

Brian: Let's amend the motion to reflect that.

All in favor; the motion passes.

And Brian and Stan will prepare a brief for the board that summarizes everything. And per Bryce, WSDOT will send out the roster for the CTR Board's legislative committee, so that we're clear on who's on it.
