Another friendly reminder: you're always welcome to "raise your hand" on the blog if you have a question for a presenter. Just post it here and I can ask it on your behalf.

By the way, I'll throw this out there while Paul continues his presentation: Brian was interviewed by the Everett Daily Herald this morning. They had questions about CTR and how the work of WSDOT and the board helps shape transportation policy in our state. How did they find out about us, you ask? Because Molly's employer, Everett Community College, wrote a press release about her appointment to the board and, in turn, the paper is doing a broader story about both her and the program. How cool is that?!

Wow. Some stunning information appears on page 13 of Paul's slides:

That's the rough equivalent of adding a single lane to I-5 between JBLM and Seattle.

I missed the intro. Who is this Paul person?

Page 14 breaks out the theoretical costs associated with the two. And, as Kathy just noted, the numbers on this slide don't reflect the costs of maintenance. Nor does it include, as Janice just said, the amount of time lost for travelers associated with construction-related slowdowns. As Paul says, these are anecdotal numbers-- but they tell a powerful story.

Hi Brent, Paul is Paul Mason. He's a WSDOT/PTD data guy. He's one smart cat.
