FROM BRIAN: We need your feedback for the Washington State Public Transportation Plan

Hi folks,

Here's a message from Brian regarding the ongoing effort for the Washington State Public Transportation Plan. You're all encouraged to review the plan and provide your comments. Thanks!

I need your ideas. The Public Transportation Division and partners are looking for stakeholder input on the draft Washington State Public Transportation Plan over the next couple of weeks. The attached draft plan is intended to help guide WSDOT and our partners toward a more integrated, multimodal transportation system to support projected population growth and thriving communities during the next 20 years.

Please review the document and share it with others in our agency or your key transportation stakeholders. Comments and edits received by August 28 will be considered as we prepare the next draft, which will be distributed for public comment. To help us streamline the comment process, please use the form provided in the hyperlink Google Form or website address Also, comments will be accepted via email at

I realize that the timeline is tight, so if you are unable to provide comments during the next two weeks you will have additional opportunities during the public review period from September to November.

Now is a great time to consider and express your views. I look forward to hearing your ideas! Thank you and please contact me if you have questions.

Thank you

When I look at a document the first question I ask is "How readable is this?"  Is it written in "Plain Talk?"  So I ran a test on the first 600 words.  Here is the result.

Flesch Reading Ease score: 15 (text scale)
Flesch Reading Ease scored your text: very difficult to read.

Gunning Fog: 22.2 (text scale)
Gunning Fog scored your text: very difficult to read.

Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level: 19.5
Grade level: College Graduate and above.

Linsear Write Formula : 25.3
Grade level: College Graduate and above.

I wonder if this meets Governor Gregoire's Plain Talk standard of Executive Order 05-03.

Thanks, Cal— that's great feedback. Did you submit it using the Google form? If not, that's the best, most effective way to ensure that your insights will be considered.
